Founded Grey Digital Media, LLC in 2012
Attended University if Illinois Chicago 2 years – dropped out and worked for 2 years as a Banker 90-92
Attended Wright College – 2 semesters – transfer to Parks
Attended Parks College of Aviation St Louis University – 3 years. 93–96. Graduated Airport Management 1997
Originally I wanted to be a pilot. I even went to an aviation flight school in St. Louis (Parks College). Ultimately, I realized that it was going to cost a lot more money to achieve that goal of being a pilot, so under the advice of my college advisor, I switched to airport business management and I graduated in the spring of 1997.
I spent 15 years at multiple companies serving as a web designer, Web Developer, Game designer and an Information Architect/user experience designer. I enjoyed the work of making rapid prototypes and I was first exposed to motion graphics here. I loved the work of animated titles and the use of motion graphics in commercials. This is when I stated to think about doing video. Eventually, I got burned out doing the coding and the photoshopping and I decided that i needed a change in direction. While doing these jobs, I started realizing that my true passion was in the video field, so I started moving towards finding jobs that would align with that goal. When I got my last layoff in the summer of 2012, I decided that I wanted to pursue video production and editing as my new career path and I started Grey Digital Media as a freelance video production company.
After getting everything on the business all setup I was ready to pursue my first client. My first client out he gate was for Detlak Education Services. When I started for them they had just acquired by Wiley Education Services. I had originally applied to them as a full-time position ,but they instead offered me a job as an independent contractor. As a independent contractor they were my first paid client. I filmed university faculty on location in Washington DC. I was the main editor for the final courses that were added to a online learning portal.
So that leads me to today. Wile I have ben fortunate to have this one very profitable contract, I now find myself looking for the next step. With my experience in both web design and video production I have a very unique skill set. The video editor of today is a very different person than one just years ago. Today, editors are expected to know how to edit, work with audio, color grade, design their own graphics, and more. I created this website to add to overall marketing of my services. It is my hope that I can provide the solutions that your business is in need for.
